That’s why we’re excited to offer a Half-Day School Option, designed for families who want the benefits of live online learning and meaningful social interaction, but with greater flexibility built into their day.

With our Half-Day program, students attend live virtual classes each school day for just half the day, allowing them to receive real-time instruction, teacher support, and daily peer engagement—all while enjoying reduced screen time and more room for independent learning, creative exploration, or family activities.
Even in this streamlined schedule, students won’t miss out on our signature programs. They'll still participate in Advanced Academics and Discovery Lab, where they’ll learn how to apply core academic concepts to real-life problem-solving and creative projects. It’s the perfect balance of structure and freedom—built to support both academic success and personal growth.

As a spiritually grounded, JW-only learning community, we’ve created an environment where students can grow academically while being surrounded by peers who share their values, beliefs, and goals. A Typical School Day at Preference Academy
School Calendar
At Preference Academy, we’ve reimagined the school year to create a balanced, engaging, and student-friendly experience. Our 40-week academic calendar runs Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM EST, giving students a long weekend every week to recharge, explore interests, or spend time with family.
Throughout the year, students enjoy thoughtfully scheduled breaks—including Mental Health Days, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break—to support wellness and prevent burnout. And for our graduating seniors, there’s an added perk: they wrap up the school year two weeks early, giving them a head start on post-graduation plans.
It’s a schedule built for success—and designed with real life in mind.
School Day at a Glance
At Preference Academy, each school day begins with Morning Homeroom, a spiritually enriching time designed to set a peaceful, purposeful tone for the day ahead. Students come together to read and reflect on the Daily Text, offering heartfelt comments that uplift and encourage their peers. This daily practice not only strengthens spiritual bonds but also nurtures a positive mindset that carries through the rest of the day.

Following Homeroom, students enter their live virtual core classes, where they receive real-time instruction in Math, Science, English/Language Arts, and History. Each class is led by two teachers, ensuring that students who need additional support or clarification during lessons receive the individualized attention they need to thrive. This co-teaching model enhances engagement, reinforces learning, and helps every student feel seen and supported. After a productive morning, students enjoy a one-hour lunch break, where we encourage them to disconnect from their screens, enjoy a wholesome meal, and move around to refresh their energy for the afternoon.

In the latter part of the day, students participate in enrichment sessions that make learning meaningful and memorable. These include STEM-based workshops, technology explorations, and creative arts projects, allowing students to apply their knowledge in hands-on, innovative ways. To further support our students' personal growth, we also offer weekly group guidance coaching sessions. These age-based discussions provide a safe space to explore real-life issues through the lens of Bible-based principles, often drawing on resources from the “Questions Young People Ask” publications and similar articles.
